Council Tax scams
We have been advised of some recent Council Tax scams.
New Phone scam February 2016
Residents have been receiving fraudulent calls where they are told that they are entitled to a Council Tax refund and being asked for their card number to receive the refund. The caller knows details about the person such as their name, address and Council Tax banding.
We will never ask you for your card details over the phone to arrange a refund. If you are in any doubt please call us on 01304 872199. If you have been a victim please contact the Police straight away, or report it to Action Fraud.
We have received reports of a recent scam where people are receiving an email stating they are due a Council Tax refund and asking for their bank account details to receive the refund.
We will not email you to ask you to provide your bank account details. If you have been a victim please contact the Police straight away, or report it to Action Fraud.
